Inner peace, outer peace

When we work for our own inner peace, we are able to create peace in the world.

Here’s what I mean:

We create the world around us with our emotions, our perspectives. The world we encounter and see is, in reality, a reflection of what we carry around inside of ourselves.

This is why it’s so important that we cultivate inner peace inside. A true inner peace can absolutely calm the outside world, as well.

Conquering inner fears and creating peace is a path to real stillness, and stillness brings strength. We live in an era of great fear. We are inundated by non-stop propaganda (commercial, political, spiritual); many people are also plagued by financial and personal insecurities. By cultivating inner peace, we can learn to still fear and walk with it, as a friend. Stillness, in turn, can bring a powerful strength.

Inner peace helps us remember that all of us suffer in some way. Every single person alive today will suffer at some point in time. Sometimes that suffering can be quite traumatic; other times, it may just be the aches and pains of day-to-day annoyances.

In either case, by analyzing our own suffering, and developing a peace with it, we remind ourselves that all sentient beings suffer. This helps us have compassion for them, not to judge others, and just to minimize the amount of pain we inflict on others as well, whether intentionally or unintentionally.

This helps create peace in the world.
